RevampKAL, La Maison Rililie
Today is the DAY! The "RevampKAL" starts in my ravelry group!!!
It will be a different and fun KAL* with lots of prizes to win (I still have some nice Shibui yarn left, that needs to find new friends real soon) and other classic KAL stuff going on, but there is a slight twist in the concept:

The idea is to transform, personalise, refashion and customise any of my patterns and to make it your own project that will be distinctively yours!

Participants are invited to mix any of my patterns or to add new texture and stitch-patterns to the design they want to work with... or to completely change it up to their liking and mood.
The creative possibilities are endless:  everything in terms of fabric or colour-work can be modified or even parts of a completely different pattern can be implemented, to change bits or the whole style, so that it works for your body and your taste!
All of this will be done together in good company and if somebody needs any kind of help for the craziest modification they have dreamt up, we are here to support your dream and to share ideas in this KAL!

The technical bits:
The RevampKAL will start today, the 28th of October and will end on the 15th of December 2014.
Anybody can join at any time, there is no rush if you are too busy to cast on just right now.

As I said, there will be yarny prizes & free patterns to win at the end and during the KAL (every WIP/FO tagged with #RevampKAL and with a project-picture will be eligible for the random prize draw).

All of the La Maison Rililie patterns are eligible to work with and you can also incorporate stitches or other details from other patterns or stitch dictionaries that you own.

So, if you do like the idea of a totally creative modification-fest, come by to my group here.

With all the different ideas that started to come up in the thread I got really jealous:
So I decided that I will participate in my own KAL! (Yeah I know, that's not really the way it's done usually, but I don't see why I have to be the only one to stay out of the fun??)
I already cast on a sock which will feature one of the Orza stitch patterns.

From the very start, when I was just swatching for the design back then, I was wondering how this stitch pattern would look in a sock... and now I have a legitimate reason to leave everything behind and to actually work on my new Orza-sock, like right now....
Because well, it's KAL-time!

I do owe a big THANK YOU to all my wonderful ravelry friends and co-mods that helped me to bring this KAL to life and that inspired me with their great ideas, suggestions and advice!
Thanks sooooo much guys!

* KAL stands for "knit-along", where different knitters get together to work on a project in the dear company of kindred spirits, either in real life or on an internet platform... to have fun together and to share their progress or to ask questions about techniques.
(this disclaimer here is for the non-knitters out there, like my dear sis that might read this post)

New Wind in Your Sails!

Orza Pullover by La Maison Rililie
My new pullover pattern has just been published!
I am especially happy for this one, because it was (and still is) one of these experiments where you have a dozen of different ideas that you want to implement all of them in one project and the resulting garment that comes to life right in front of you is evolving by it's self, having it's own personality.
There are different all over textured patterns on the body and the sleeves - on the sleeves it's one of the rare times I am using lace, since I do have quite an ambivalent feeling towards lacy patterns. The pullover also uses a different way to work the raglan increases: the back of the sleeve is worked on a different rate than the front, to produce a deeper section of the lacy pattern at the rear side.

The whole concept of this pullover is related to my love of sail-boats. Since boats do have a different name for the port (left) and the starboard (right) side of the vessel, I thought it would be fun to make two different sleeve versions. These can be reworked in the same manner as shown, or - for the knitters that do prefer absolute symmetry - one of the two versions can be chosen for both right and left sleeve...

In mediterranean sailing terminology a boat is said to be sailing Orza when its sails are trimmed in tightly and it is sailing as close to the wind as possible. This point of sail lets the boat travel diagonally to the wind direction, or 'upwind' - the most photogenic way to travel on a sailing boat, since one side is very close to the water and you get the dramatically loop sided position of the vessel, that looks (and feels) like you are the most incredibly accomplished skipper when doing it!
Hopefully the Orza pattern is going to produce a similar feeling of being the most accomplished knitter when finishing it...

You can either download the pattern for this little summer top on my website here or find it directly on the ravelry pattern page, together with many other beautiful versions, knitted up by talented ravelers.
