This Shawl features a small old school, flowery pattern that cuts up the otherwise monochromatic colour palette with a little bit of texture. To avoid too much romance, stripes and a ribbed border keep everything fresh and contemporary.
The increases are worked mostly with yarn overs that add vertical lines of tiny eye-lets to the horizontal bands of the design.
A fun combination of “granny-chic” and easy to wear shape to throw around the shoulders on cool summer evenings as a classic shawl or as an elaborate scarf around the neck during winter time.
All techniques and methods are either explained in the pattern itself, or links are provided that point to web-tutorials.
The whole shawl is worked seamlessly from the top down. It is worked in easy to memorise, similar sections: In total it has 9 Pattern repeats and a ribbed border all around.
This is why it's quite a straightforward project which does not demand much concentration. The increases follow a very simple sequence logic that can be worked out after a couple of repetitions and that is easy to follow intuitively, so that one could effortless work on this shawl in front of the TV or at the beach! Yarn: Rosy Green Wool, Cheeky Merino Joy: 1 skein C1 (colourway Rose Garden) or approximately 240 meters or 263 yards. 1 skein C2 (colourway Ruby) or approximately 282 meters or 308 yards. 1 skein C3 (colourway Embers) or approximately 201 meters or 220 yards. ...or any other sport weight yarn (at 320m or 350 yards /100gr) which gives you the proper gauge. |
